Scary and Yet Fun...

I realized today that in 1 week I hit that very scary milestone of 12 weeks. I am very happy about it, and very scared at the same time.

While talking with my friend DD today I told her it's like when you find out the fire alarm is real - this is not a drill.

I've wondered for so long when the other shoe was going to drop... I realize it still can, for sure, but it is supposedly much less likely after 12 weeks. So, I find myself in another 2 WW. This one is easier to keep myself busy through though, as I've started reading up on baby gear and such. I just hope all my perfect baby-gear dreams don't come crashing around my ears.

We have a Triple Screen test (Downs, Tris.omy 18, Tris.omy 21) test 4 days after hitting the magic 12 wk mark. I'm sort-of scared too that the results of the test is where the other shoe is hiding.

So, today's thoughts were very scary and yet very fun... Such is the 2WW.

I hear ya! Am 11w 2d right now and have my nuchal scan next week. I'm excited to see what it looks like now and my 'sensible brain' knows it will be just fine, but my brain that contains the poison of loss keeps whispering things to scare me ;P (and no, I don't have two personalities)
I would like to sleep through the next five days ;D
I hope you are feeling well and good luck with everything!!

My triple screen was the only time I got a really good look at my babies. Their machines are more advanced than you would find at your regular OB... try to get some great pictures out of it... and try your hardest to not worry. Worry only if they tell you to - otherwise dont stress yourself out. That's what got me through mine.

I love that description ... of finding out that the alarm is really a fire! I hope that the triple screen goes well!

I didn't get the triple screen because I was afraid of false positives, but it does sound like it is a great experience for most people because of the detailed info that you get. Plus, they look human, unlike at the 6 or 7 week scan, and you don't have to wait so long for the 20 week one.

Most likely it will end up being a wonderful, rather than a scary, thing.

You're right about that. Pregnancy is scary and fun at the same time! The trick is have more fun than fear so you can enjoy it all!

I am still so happy for you!

So exciting your near the end of the first trimester! Best of luck with this 2ww and with the tests at the end. I hope it's all thoroughly uneventful.
